30 Days of Fright! Not.

My sister-in-law Margaret is a great companion for a scary movie. She and I have seen some awful scary, and awful awful, horror pictures together. Here is her take on our most recent outing, 30 Days of Night.-Nat

We all know that Josh Hartnett is a) a fox from the 90's and b) great at being a scary movie hero (see The Faculty). Nine years later the second assertion still rings true in 30 Days of Night. Sadly his foxiness is waning.
The premise (based on Steve Niles’ graphic novel) is really genius, and it's unbelievable that it hasn't been thought of before. Vampires are scary as hell, but they can only come out at night, so you have all day to think of how to survive and destroy them. BUT,in Barrow, Alaska the citizens are not afforded that luxury. They have to face a whole month without daylight, in which the vampires obviously have the upper hand.
Sounds great. The actors mainly do a good job of acting cold. The vampires
are scary looking, and they speak this weird language. The best thing about them is that they are really fast and strong.
The story has a lot of gaps in it, from the failed, unexplained love story, to how there is no contact with the vampires in for days at a time. All in all, being a lover of horror films, this movie was minimally scary. But it may be worth $2 at your local super saver theater.

I think the only reason I would see that movie, personally, is for Josh Harntnetts good looks, but if you say they are fading then I am glad I read your review!

J. Hartnett also starred in Halloween H20. That film was almost as good as the film "Alien vs. Smurf vs. Noid."
